Gerald was Eggman's grandfather, just to make this clear, Eggman is Robotnik through the entire series, but has been called Eggman since Sonic Advenutre (DX).





He was actually good, just turned on the world because G.U.N. Killed Maria, so instead of Shadow bringing HOPE to the world, he made him go AGAINST the world. It is very confusing, best to look on the Sonic Wiki, Just google it.
