Is this true?.....i hope not?

My friend emailed me an article about the F-22....it said tht Lockheed/Boeing cheated when thy were competing against F-23.....is this true?...i hope not....i love the f-22 and hope 2 fly it som dayIs this true?.....i hope not?
How did they supposedly cheat? I haven't heard about anything.

These competitions are scrutinized pretty closely, and I doubt any cheating occurred. Is this true?.....i hope not?
I know that the YF-22's avoinic's package broke down. McDonnel douglas offered them one of their's. Now that's sportman ship.

McDonnel Douglas was the best there was out there......
A large corporation cheating, defrauding, stealing... and you hope it's not true?!?
i'm sure the guys who made the f23 cheated too but lockheed cheated better. so dont worry about it. it's all part of the game.
I haven't heard anything about this but if they cheated, I won't be surprised. I guess they took advantage of the loopholes and played the game smarter than harder. That is just part of succeeding in life. I love the F-22 too but F-14 had a badass look.
Its hard to say. They are supposed to go with the lowest bidder when it comes to contracts that meet the criteria. Thats not always the case though. I.E. MDC was in dire straits about 25-30 years ago. The USAF needed a new tanker to replace the aging KC-135 which in it s own right was and still is a very good aircraft. The obvious choice was the 747-200. it could carry the same amount of fuel in a standard configuration as the KC-135 weighed at takeoff. However, MDC had trouble launching the DC-10 because of accidents. They needed financial help so the USAF told them to design a tanker based on the DC-10 airframe and they would consider it. They did and the rest is history. However, as we all know, MDC was bought out by boeing in the not to distant future. The only downfall to the 747 was its inability to mount a refueling boom. The empanage of the 747 was not as durable as the DC-10 mainly because the empanage of the 10 was designed to hold an engine so was built extremely strong.
The aircraft industry used to be rife with out right payoffs and bribes to secure overseas and yes US contracts. Why did Germany and Italy take the Lockheed F-104 when the Grumman F-11 was a much better aircraft, and won outright fly offs between the two aircraft (bribes/payoffs,in fact the test pilot for Grumman was told this was done to ensure USNavy contracts for Grumman)? That being said, modern manufactures (and there is only two) go through so many re-designs, taking years, with constant scrutiny from congress and the military, I doubt you could now bribe or cheat to win the contract. Both aircraft were so close in performance that it could have been ether one. But who knows? Lets see how the F-22 is doing 3-5 years from now.
